Andrew Haynes is an oil & gas lawyer and the co-Head of Norton Rose Fulbright's Brazil practice. Andrew was previously Assistant General Counsel Global Corporate with BP p.l.c., overseeing all M&A legal work for BP globally, including in Latin America. Prior to BP, Andrew served as Deputy General Counsel for BG Group plc (formerly British Gas and one of the largest foreign investors in Brazil) overseeing all M&A globally, and was previously BG Group’s Chief Counsel for South America, based in Brazil, where he was involved in the Petrobras/ BG discovery and early stage development planning for Brazil's super-giant Santos Basin Pre-Salt discoveries. In addition to his transactional practice, Andrew is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and has significant experience managing international energy arbitration claims and political risks on behalf of international energy investors in emerging markets. Andrew is fluent in Portuguese.

He joined Petrobras Distribuidora in 1976 and has held management positions in areas such as Marketing, Sales and Planning. The economist became Liquigás president in 2006, a position maintained until April 2014. He has a bachelor degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Business of Santos (SP) and a post-graduated degree in Business Administration, from EAESP / FGV. He is also graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, and the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD business school in France, in partnership with the Dom Cabral Foundation.

Now, his practice focuses on representing financial institutions, public and private companies, accounting firms, and their boards of directors, audit committees, directors, officers, and employees in domestic and international securities enforcement actions and litigations, white collar criminal defense, derivative actions, internal investigations, congressional investigations, complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts, and crisis management. Claudius has extensive experience in handling delicate high-profile matters that require concurrent representation in the civil, criminal, and political spheres.

He is currently responsible for the concept and execution of production development projects in Lula field, located at the Brazilian presalt area, where ten Floating Storage and Offloading Systems must operate. Six of them have been already in operation, processing from 100 to 150 kbpd, demanding capital expenditure of more than U$ 40 billion. The engineer has experience in managing and approving upstream projects, and has formerly been corporate general manager for production development projects in Petrobras, with the role of improving the Upstream Projects Design, Sanction & Execution framework. Flavio also worked in business development em divestiment activities. He got a bachelor degree from Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME).
