EXPLORATION
The recent recovery of Brent and WTI and the perception of growing demand for hydrocarbons have brought renewed momentum in the search for new deposits. In the Brazilian context, the new gas law and ANP bids motivate studies in new exploratory frontiers and even in unconventional resources; “reexploration” in mature areas can also enable new projects. The theme of Exploration of the upstream block therefore invites with interest proposals of synopses in the following subjects:
- The role of exploration in energy transition
- exploratory potential of land basins and unconventional plays
- Application of artificial intelligence in exploratory areas
- Exploratory play studies
- New exploratory frontiers.
- Exploratory potential in mature basins
- New technologies in geology and geophysics
- Integrated projects from exploration to production development)
RESERVOIRS
Brazilian reservoirs in fields in production have already recovered accumulated volumes of more than 20 billion boe and still present important challenges to increase O&G production. Managing these fields, seeking to increase recovery factors and incorporating new reserves remains a major challenge. Asset revitalization projects, operations in new reservoir frontiers, advanced recovery technologies, digital and disruptive technologies will be encouraged in the discussions at Rio Oil & Gas 2022, being a fertile field for discussions on these themes and others, as described below:
- Fractured and karst carbonate reservoirs
- Evaluation, characterization and modeling of reservoirs
- Water management (increased production, cost/energy reduction and carbon reduction)
- Reservoir management and monitoring
- Advanced Recovery (IOR/EOR)
- Complex and/or non-conventional reservoirs
- Production forecast (numerical/analytical modeling and reserve valuation)
- Data incorporation and Production optimization under uncertainties
- Gas management (hydrocarbons and/or contaminants)
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMIC MODELS
Investments in the Upstream segment remain significant and the limited capital environment involves challenges in achieving better project profitability, in addition to the need for projects with lower greenhouse gas emissions. The appropriate project management plays a crucial role in the realization of opportunities, whether in the development of competitive concepts in the planning stage, or in diligent execution with effective specialized management. Topics of interest suggested for the Rio Oil & Gas 2022 event are:
- Concepts of Development and Selection of Alternatives
- Projects: Governance, Closure and Lessons Learned
- Case Studies and non-technical risk assessment
- Carbon: measurement, accounting and pricing criteria
- Revitalization of mature fields and development of marginal fields
WELLS
The pre-salt reservoirs on the Brazilian coast have provided important advances in well construction technology in ultra deep LDA environment, thick salt layer and in deposits that sometimes lead to difficult well control conditions. It is an area in which constant developments can bring significant gains, either in the drilling and completion phase (smart wells) and stimulation. But it is not only in the pre-salt that requires continuous progress: the feasibility of recovery increase projects in mature and heavy oil fields depends on cost reduction and application of new technologies. Rio Oil & Gas wants to help promote this discussion with articles on the topics of:
- Intervention and abandonment of wells
- Well integrity
- Onshore wells
- Well projects (fluid, cementation, special projects, elevation, etc.)
- Well control and emergency response
- Completion technologies
- Drilling technologies
- Integrated Studies
PRODUCTION SYSTEMS
The introduction of digital technologies in the processing of the immense mass of data acquired in real-time monitoring systems of wells and process plants brings a new perspective to the design and operation of production systems. Additionally, the search for the economic production of hydrocarbons in increasingly challenging scenarios and the need for constant cost reduction and compliance with HSE requirements, especially with regard to emissions, are needs of the current industry to ensure and increase the profitability of production development projects. In this challenging context and eager for innovative solutions, we seek good articles in the following themes:
- Process control in production systems
- Produced water management
- CO2 and H2S management
- Operations and logistics management
- Production facilities
- Maintenance and structural integrity
- Technologies for offshore asset integrity management
- Extension of life of offshore assets
- Digital solutions in production systems
